Brokeback!

Haha I didn't actually break my back, but it sure hurts like crazy... my lower back has been stiff and sore since yesterday.

Before you jump to conclusions..... NO, it wasn't caused by an acrobatic three-way (though that sure would make hell of a story)... The real reason is actually lame.

I was at the gym on Tuesday, participating in a free training session. Oh yeah fyi I changed gyms recently, no longer going to the old place (Sorry Danny for never making it to your class!). So this trainer was teaching us how to do some weight exercises, involving the use of barbells and this heavy ball thingy with a handle on it. I actually had no idea what it's called... so I Googled image 'weight ball with handle at the gym' hahaha and ta-duh it appeared!! So it's actually called a Kettlebell (pic below)!! Haha still learning my gym lingo :P


The exercise was awkward. I picked the lightest one because my arms aren't that strong.. I think it was only 8 or 10kg, and yet I had the greatest difficulty trying to swing it. We were told to hold onto the handle with both hands, and then swing the ball all the way out front and then all the way back, going under the crotch, then between the legs and then thrusting back front. The trainer said we were supposed to use our hips and thigh strength to balance the weight, but obviously I was doing it wrong because I was only feeling the pull on my back. At that time it didn't seem to hurt so I just went with it.

The next morning, I was greeted with this horrible pain when I got up. Today it got a little better but still stiff at certain spots. Have been applying Ammeltz Yoko Yoko and it helps. Right now I've definitely learned the lesson that exercise can be harmful if not done correctly! Will stay away from the kettlebells for a while now....

On another note, I've recently turned a year older! Birthdays aren't really a big deal for me, don't celebrate much apart from the standard song and blowing of candles. I enjoy cake though haha :P

Feeling a little blahh lately... with what I want to do with my life in terms of career and personal development. Just at a point of facing some crossroads.... things are a little stagnant, not sure if it's my reluctance to move or just that the right opportunities haven't come my way yet. Either way I expect to do something... and hopefully soon.

    1. Memang betul haha. To be honest, both gyms have their own pros and cons. I weighted all factors for quite some time before I decided to change.

      But at the end of the day, I realized I'm a sucker for new things... and this new gym is indeed quite nice :P
      They plan to open more branches in the near future, and are constantly having auditions for class instructors! Maybe you should go check it out ;)

    1. Hmmm not sure about manboobs... but generally to lose fats and weight you need to do more cardio exercises right.. jogging, running, cycling, swimming... If I'm not mistaken, I read somewhere before that you cannot choose to burn of fat at specific places... for example if you have a big tummy, then doing lots of exercises at the tummy area will not help to burn the fat there exclusively, but it will help to tone the muscles there lah.. because of the body's metabolism and stuff... In other words, I learned that our body tends to burn off fat at the places where we gain them first... So if you first gained the fat at your tummy, then only boobs... Hence, doing cardio exercises will initially burn off the tummy fat first before it gets to the boobs... (I think hahaha)

      And yes I eat rice as the main carbohydrate component, but not exclusively.. sometimes I have noodles or potatoes... I don't think rice is bad, sure it has a high sugar load... just don't eat too much lah.. 1 serving is normal :P
