Every gay guy should like to, or at least feel a need to shop! Otherwise you're not really gay. I think it's important to have a good sense of personal style and know what looks good on you and what you need to add to your wardrobe. For instance, the type of denim cut that fits your body best, or the colour that suits you or which colour you don't have yet, or how can you match this shirt with which pants, etc. I actually organize my wardrobe according to shirt type and then colour... so immediately I can tell that I have mostly grey/black, green and red.
Having said that, I went to Singapore after I reviewed my closet and I even did a web search of the places I plan to shop at to browse through their online catalog to spot for specific items. Yes, I'm that obsessive compulsive. Obviously everything is expensive in Singapore once you convert the prices back to Ringgit, so I only focused on things that weren't available in Malaysia:
H&M
The beautiful white exterior of the store was striking on Orchard Road. The store consisted of 3 floors, but only half of the 3rd floor was the men's department. To be honest, I was slightly disappointed because online the stuff looked so chic, but when you see the items in your hand, you can kind of tell that the quality of the finishing and sewing isn't that great. I mean, I have seen better stuff at about the same price in Malaysia. And I had some issues with the sizing of the pants hahaha. I tried on a pair of shorts at size 31 Europe, it was ridiculously loose, then I tried 29 and it was still loose. In the end, I bought a pair of cargo shorts at the smallest available size (28 Europe), but even that I still need to belt it to prevent it slipping off my waist when I jump. LOL trust me I'm not that skinny, it's just that the cutting is meant for Caucasians I think. Also bought a simple T shirt :)
A&F
After H&M I walked up the street to the infamous Abercrombie & Fitch store, the first in Southeast Asia. I'm sure you have seen pics of your friends sharing on fb of those shirtless, hunky models in red sweat pants. Well, there was only 1 model greeter on that day, and he was fully clothed haha.. plus he didn't look friendly. Kind of like sending the message that he didn't want to take pics with anyone LOL. The store itself was unlike any other, it was really dark with loud clubbing music, actually like the dark rooms and mazes of saunas hahaha! And the entire place just smelled soooo strongly of the A&F fragrance which was almost suffocating. And there were mirrors everywhere! A vain person would enjoy this place LOL. Everything for sale was horribly overpriced. I was just glad I bought some stuff at H&M, otherwise I would be leaving Orchard Road empty handed :P
Uniqlo
Haha I know we have this here in Malaysia too, but there was a sale and I happened to find something I liked so I made a small purchase :PAlight, that concludes the shopping and browsing section. Stay tuned for the rest :P
XOXO
